Chris Botti

Thanks to Susu for his generous gift (2 tickets to Chris Botti's jazz concert), Ivy and I had a great time last night. It was indeed a duet concert with David Sanborn, a saxophonist known for his smooth jazz. His saxophone didn't impress us too much though. Ivy and I are not big fan of smooth jazz . We were there for Chris Botti's trumpet (Chris plays more than just smooth jazz). What else can I say about his soul touching trumpet and warm romantic tunes? I was a trumpeter for my elementary school's marching band and I know how hard to play trumpet that well. He is talented and I hope he won't turn into another Kenny G (well, with his golden boy look). I am sure he wants to be known as "Miles Davis" type of jazz artist than like Kenny G. We were also amazed by the terrific performance of the pianist, Billy Childs, for the very first time we saw him perform. "My Funny Valentine" duet performance of Chris Botti and Billy Childs was the highlight of the night. After the concert, Chris Botti and the band were at the Warner Theatre's entrance signing autograph. For the first time in my life, I was in a line asking for autograph from artists. To my surprise, Chris is a very nice person and very approachable. He talks like a regular guy who always appreciates fan for buying his CD. I bought the lastest album from Chris Botti and an album from Billy Childs that won him a Grammy Award (Damn $20 each). We happily got their autograph and even took picture with them. It was really a great night out. Thanks again, susu.

Home

I am home. I was hoping to get away from snow and coldness in DC while I was on vacation . It turned out the weather was around 50s degree for the whole month while I was away. A day after I flew back from Taiwan, I was welcomed by the first snow since December. It is 8” of snow hammering the DC metro area and counting! Anyway, I love snow and I don’t really care how much snow accumulated. I concern about Washingtonians panic about the snow. I will see what happen tomorrow.

Anyway, it was an exhausted but excited trip to Malaysia and Taiwan. Engagement party at Taipei was successfully wrapped up. There are too much to write right now. How about enjoy some photos first? Story will follow soon.
